Paul Yamilkoski

I love people. I love to help others and to make a difference in their lives. I love to speak hope into the world, even if it means a little tough love. Credit restoration is one way that I have been blessed to be able to do that. I am thankful to be able to say that I am a Christian, an American, a husband, a father, a grandfather and a friend

I was raised on an Iowa farm by parents with unlikely backgrounds. Neither had any farming experience. Both were big city kids, one from Detroit, one from Buffalo, both ascending from meager to poor families financially, to retire as executives in their careers.

Both served their country. My mother was in the Army reserve for a little while, and my father retired as a lieutenant colonel from the Army. He had volunteered for Vietnam, though as a “sole surviving son” he was not required to go. I always admired his patriotism for his country. So, between seeing my parents’ efforts in their careers, their military service, raising a family of three boys, and helping them to run a farm complete with crops and livestock, I learned a great appreciation for smart, hard work and not making excuses. Also, as any farmer will tell you, farming is about community. You can’t do it on your own.

I graduated with a degree in business from Iowa State University. During my last year of college in 1989, I met an amazing young woman. I knew, the day I met her, that she was the one I would marry. We have been together ever since, and I thank God for every one of those days.

We started a family and eventually had three wonderful children, two girls and boy. But things don’t always go as planned. During that time, our son Noah was diagnosed with cancer. He had a faith that was profound and a strength of heart that can only come from God. He overcame cancer twice. He was one of the most caring and compassionate people I have ever experienced, and never let adversity break him down. Shortly before his 13th birthday, cancer came back again. This time his body could not handle the treatment, and he passed away a few months later. Nothing can ever prepare you for that moment when your child leaves your arms to be with The Lord. Part of my life goal is to try to be as good a man as my son.

Our faith is a very important part of our family. From being youth pastors for the junior and senior high school youth for four years, to leading worship as the leader of one of the praise teams, to completing In Christ’s Image Training, and graduating from Lay Ministry School from Cornell College, I have tried to be active in church and community. I try to look at everything I do as a way to serve God and seek to bring him glory, in a spirit of love and gratitude for all he has done for me.

I would like to make a difference in your life as well.
